VIDEO: NU students protest for climate change action

By Annie Cebulski and Scott Brown Over 400 environmentalists and concerned citizens gathered in Chicago on Wednesday for a march and vigil as part of the national People's Climate Movement. The event brought together a coalition of sponsors from many issues, including the Sierra Club of Chicago, the Service Employee's International Union, and the Archdiocese of Chicago, all hoping to motivate citizens to demand governmental action on justice and the environment, including supporting the EPA's Clean Power Plan. The activists, including members of Fossil Free Northwestern, listened to speakers and got fired up in the pews at Old St. Patrick's Church before marching through Chicago's downtown. The procession ended at the Thompson Center, where demonstrators lit candles in vigil for the environment and the human lives already impacted by climate change.
