 I took this photo last summer in Acadia National Park, on Mount Desert Island in Maine. This is about halfway through the hike to the top of Cadillac Mountain, the highest point along the North Atlantic Seaboard. Because of its easterly location and elevation, the summit is the first place in the US to see sunrise for much of the year. There are many mountain pools like this along the hike, from which you can often hear frogs croaking.
